Blend Notes
This coffee is about a journey – a journey of spices, flavors, ideas. Phocea was inspired by the French city Marseille, which historically stood as the European entryway on the spice trail from Africa. With a roasty flavor and the aroma of chicory this brew is a gateway to new coffee experiences.
Blend Ingredients: Crafted with specialty coffee beans from Brazil, Rwanda, and Democratic Republic of Congo.

Great coffee

Simply one of the many best coffees from La Colombe I've ever had. I made a cup for a neighbor who had never had any of your coffees and who usually adds milk and sugar to her coffee and I suggested she taste it before adding the milk and sugar and after tasting she said she liked it without milk and sugar.

Delicious flavor

We tasted the Phocea coffee at fine breakfast restaurant last month and were drawn to its Demi it’s and subtle taste. A month later, we are enjoying the coffee every morning. Exquisite. Highly recommend.

dark roast evident tasting

I am normally a light to medium roast, but though I would try the darker roast once. My tastes are still the same, but for those of you that like the heavier, more stronger flavor of a traditional coffee, this will work well for you. It still has the LaColombe quality.

Wonderful, deep flavor

By comparison with the other LC dark-roasted offering I’ve tried, Corsica, which has a smoother character and hints of milk chocolate and berries, this has a more pronounced ‘roasty’ flavor, more tightly-focused and brilliantly executed. So, while Corsica might have broader appeal for those who normally dislike darker roasts, Phocea seems to say “Yeah, I’m dark, what’ya staring at?” While I’d love to know how they got such deep flavor without the ‘skunky’ overtones often seen in cheap supermarket French roasts, I imagine if they told me they’d have to **** me, and I’d rather remain alive so I can keep drinking this, now a permanent part of my dark roast rotation. Delicious!

Phocea is it.

This is all we have brewed for the past 4+ years. Nothing else compares in terms of richness, consistency and un-fussyness. I crave only Phocea. You will never find something as special.
