Q: When will the other cafes open?
A: Our new grab-and-go model is the result of La Colombe’s innovative thinking and cutting-edge way of approaching hospitality, with the safety of our customers and team members at the top priority. We are working to apply the grab-and-go model to our additional cafes throughout the country. Follow @LaColombeCoffee for real-time updates.
Q: What safety precautions will you be taking during this time?
A: For the health and safety of our customers and team members, we are working with the Coronavirus health consulting firm Corporate Medical Advisors to ensure our operational practices are truly best in class. Team members will have their temperatures taken at the start of every shift and will be outfitted in gloves, protective facial coverings, and eyewear. Disinfecting will take place at regular intervals and between shifts.
To limit the amount of time in our cafe space, we will be serving a modified “to-go” only menu and orders will be taken at the door and started before reaching the payment terminal. Unfortunately, we won’t be offering restrooms, table sitting, self-service condiments, and water during grab-and-go service.
To maintain social distancing, we have floor decals that indicate where customers can safely stand and partitions throughout the space and across the counter area, separating customers from our team members. Additionally, to limit touch points, we are only accepting cashless payment and no longer requiring signatures for credit card payments.
Q: When will all the baristas return to my local cafe?
A: We are excited to be able to serve you your daily cup of coffee! We are constantly monitoring CDC and local requirements, keeping abreast of Covid-19 updates in the markets in which we operate, and discussing our ongoing and planned operational practices with Corporate Medical Advisors. We will be evaluating the readiness of each market individually, including safety of public transportation - to ensure the wellbeing of our team.
Q: How will the line work?
A: We have decals on the sidewalk and on the cafe floor to indicate where people can safely stand. The modified menu is displayed in the cafe window and in a signage stand by the door. A team member will greet each customer - from a safe distance - outside of the cafe to place an initial drink order on a tablet that transmits to the payment terminal and to the barista. The customer is then prompted to enter the cafe when the customer ahead advances to the next decal. Additional retail items will be available inside the cafe that can be added to the customer’s order. Cashless payment will be made when the customer reaches the payment terminal. Completed beverages will be available at the end of the counter, through a small partition opening.
Q: How many people will be allowed in the cafe at one time?
A: We are greatly reducing the capacity of the cafe to ensure that everyone can safely remain socially distant, at least 6 feet apart from one another. Since each cafe is a different size, this will vary from location to location.
Q: What methods of payment will you be accepting?
A: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, as well as Apple and Google Pay.
Q: Has the menu changed?
A: We are offering a limited to-go style menu to aid in the speed of service. This means that temporarily, no pourover coffee, no tea service, and no Workshop (lighter roasted) espresso-based drinks will be available.
Q: Can I still purchase my bag of whole bean or ground coffee there?
A: Yes, you will still be able to purchase bags of coffee, ready to drink cans, and pastries. There will also be a limited selection of Larger Format retail items such as 12-pack ready to drink can cases and cold brew concentrate.
