Story of The Bean: This roast both honors and elevates Colombia’s heirloom Caturra coffee variety, first introduced to the country in 1952. Grown high in the mountains in the Huila region of Colombia, it consists of the ripest coffee cherries, carefully picked, fully washed, and dried in the sun. This processing causes the beans to take on bright flavors of passion fruit and lime, as well as a deep sweetness.
Colombian growers are called ‘cafeteros’ and producer Arnulfo Leguizamo is a model cafetero in that he pays close attention to the quality and taste of his coffee. Four years ago, this Caturra won 1st place at the Colombian Cup of Excellence Competition, and Arnulfo used the winnings to take his family to see the ocean. Arnulfo’s work, this beautiful brew, represents Colombia’s famous coffee industry at its best."
