Why you'll love it: This seasonal coffee represents 4-years’ investment in the Haiti Coffee Academy and a commitment to re-invigorating the Haitian coffee industry. It’s the best micro-lot we’ve seen yet from Haiti, and we’re looking forward to many more.
Story of the bean: The Mission of the Haiti Coffee Academy is to improve the livelihood of Haitian farmers by increasing quality and quantity of coffee they produce, and by strengthining the supply chain to get their coffee to market. The Academy operates as a model farm for best practices, and distributes coffee seedlings to neighboring communities. This coffee represents contributions from 150 farmers in the Association des Paysans Agricoles de Savane-Zombie. Many of those farmers have benefited from plant nurseries built by the Haiti Coffee Academy, as well as coffee stewardship classes directed by the Academy’s agronomist, Cantave Fils-Aime. The result of this work is a Haitian coffee with tasting notes of lavender, lemon, and butterscotch. This lot is a testament to the Haiti's rich past and future as a coffee-producing nation.
