Why You’ll Love It: Kenyan coffees are known for deep red, fruit notes that taste like homemade jam. This auction lot expands on those flavors with a hint of grapefruit that is the signature of the Nyeri region.
Story of the bean: Nyeri is one of the most sought-after regions of Kenyan coffee because of it's abundant rainfall and fertile volcanic soils. This auction lot from the Karogoto mill is a perfect example of the prized flavor for which Nyeri is known.
The Tekangu Cooperative Society was formed by the Karogoto, Ngunguru, and Tego wet mills in the foothills of Mount Kenya. The 2,900 farmers of the Karogoto mill deliver ripe coffee cherries to be pulped and dried. Careful attention in this process allows the grapefruit note, which is the signature of the Nyeri region, to shine through.
