Why You’ll Love It: Kenyan coffees are known for deep red, fruit notes that taste like homemade jam. This auction lot Kenyan coffee is no exception, taking on the tart, juicy flavors of red wine.

Story of the bean: The volcanic soil in the Mathioya District is a deep red color and is rich in iron. This fertile ground produces ripe, red coffee cherries that are hand-picked and pulped the same day.

The cherries, harvested by the New Kiriti Farmers Cooperative Society, are wet pulped and fully washed using clean water from the Kananahu stream, before being laid out to dry in the bright Kenyan sun. The unique growing conditions give this coffee a complex balance of tartness and sweetness - not unlike an excellent Shiraz.
