Story of the bean: Dukunde Kawa Cooperative, in Rwanda, is a wonderful reminder of how great things can be when people work together. Made up of a 1400+ members base, 80% of which are women, this co-op received the SCAA's Sustainability Award in 2012 and won 8th place in the 2014 Cup of Excellence.

Dukunde Kawa farmers cultivate the Bourbon varietal on Gakenke District's verdant slopes in northern Rwanda. The high altitude of the cooperative, with two annual periods of rainfall, have a micro-climate that creates a distinct, complex flavor in the cup.
