EMERGENCY FUNDING FOR SCHOOL LUNCHES
After the Wyoming Valley School District in Pennsylvania threatened to send children to foster care if their parents couldn’t pay outstanding lunch debts, Todd personally stepped in offering to pay the lunch debt in full. Todd benefited from subsidized lunches himself, and knows that providing a little relief for families in need will go a long way for the lives of these kids.
NATIONAL PARK FOUNDATION
From exploring the world to solo trekking across Antarctica, Todd has always been an adventurer. Fueled by his love of the natural world , we were inspired to partner with the National Parks Foundation for our “Keep America Wild” campaign in an effort to protect and preserve our natural, cultural, and historical treasures. La Colombe donated $100,000 to the National Parks Foundation as an official partner and launched a full-scale campaign to rally our community around our country’s National Parks through our cafes and our cans.
SUPPORTING EVERYTOWN FOR GUN SAFETY
As parents, Todd and JP aim to create a safer world for their children and a world without common sense gun laws will never be safe. That’s why La Colombe supported Everytown For Gun Safety by donating $7 of every box of specialty branded Lyon coffee sold for their pursuit of common-sense gun laws through groundbreaking research, community education, and advocacy.
HAITI COFFEE ACADEMY
After a devastating earthquake in 2010, Todd and JP yearned to provide stability for our neighbors in Haiti. Through years of hard work and tenacity, they created the Haiti Coffee Academy to equip Haitian farmers with the resources to grow and process some of the best coffee in the world in pursuit of economic freedom. Among many things, the farm (rebuilt by Todd, JP, and our team) offers training programs, includes an adjoining nursery for coffee crops brought by JP from Brazil to Haiti, and has a freshwater system that dispenses clean water to the surrounding community. After over 10 years, La Colombe is proud to celebrate this unique partnership and the bright future it holds.
Todd and JP believe that every child should have equal access to education. That’s why we support ECHOES (Educating Children and Communities for Health, Opportunities, Enlightenment and Survival), a non-profit organization based outside of Philadelphia, PA. To help, La Colombe paid the salaries of the matrons at Trinity Children’s Centre in Uganda, a primary school where approximately 400 of the enrolled 1200 students board, many of whom are orphaned children and Sudanese refugees.
