WAYS TO COLD BREW
Check out our favorite ways to make café quality cold brew at home.
FRENCH PRESS COLD BREW
Cold brew is no longer just reserved for the summertime – it’s easy to make and delicious year-round. Cold brew has more caffeine and less acidity than hot-brewed coffee, so it’s gentler on your stomach. Made in large batches, this method is perfect for refrigerating and sharing with friends and family.
DIRECTIONS
- Weigh out your coffee on a scale. We typically use a 1:7 ratio.
- Grind the coffee beans. You will want them to resemble coarse sea salt for a French Press Cold Brew.
- Weigh your beans. Place the French Press on the scale. Zero (tare) the scale and then add the premeasured coffee grinds.
- Time to pour! Fill the French Press with room-temperature water. Use a spoon to make sure the water makes contact with all the grounds.
- Let it sit! Cover the French Press and let it sit for 12-13 hours. Do not store the cold brew mixture in the refrigerator while it’s brewing.
- Pour. After leaving the mixture out overnight or all day, press the plunger down on the French Press and pour the cold brew into a large jar or carafe.
- Enjoy! Refrigerate and enjoy over ice!

ICED CHEMEX
The Chemex, a coffee lovers go-to brewer. It’s design is simple and unassuming. Easy to use and easy to clean up, this brewing method makes an exceptional and very approachable glass of cold brew.
DIRECTIONS
- Weigh out your coffee on a scale. For a Chemex we recommend a 1:16 ratio.
- Grind coffee to resemble table salt, or medium-fine.
- Boil water (roughly 200°F).
- Wet your paper filter with hot water to rinse it before brewing. It removes the papery taste of the filter, and preheats your Chemex! Discard the water from the cup or vessel.
- Time to add coffee. Remove the filter. Place your Chemex on the scale and zero (tare) it out. Add 175 grams of ice to the Chemex. Place the filter back in the Chemex and add premeasured coffee.
- Time to pour! Zero the scale again. Start by wetting the coffee enough to make sure that all of it is saturated. Allow 30 seconds for the bloom, then pour in the rest of your water. Try to keep the height of the water and coffee consistent in the filter, pouring in pulses to keep it at the same level.
- Enjoy! From bloom to finish, the whole brew should take a little over 3 minutes. Enjoy!
